Hi guys I'm new to the whole Chevy Scene been involved with classic VW's most of my life and was raised a Ford Guy, but recently got my hands on an 82 Scottsdale C20 in trade that needs a new motor due to a rod through the oil pan. I'm located in the Central Texas area just northwest of Austin. looking forward to being part of this culture. the plan for the truck is to bring it back to life to use as it as my daily work horse.

Very good looking truck, it should make a great work truck. It's just a shame someone let a bad rod go that long and ruin the whole engine. I hear people go by all the time with a hammering knock and just think to myself, they'll be walking soon.

Welcome aboard!

I'm in Pflugerville, so not too far away.

That truck looks gorgeous!

If you aren't interested in a hotrod motor, I have a good running TBI 305 in my garage I'd be willing to part with for a reasonable amount.

Howdy! That's a good looking truck and I like the color combo too. So how many Texans we got here now? Like 500 or so? :)

One thing I'd like to advise is that glass fuel filter, get rid of it! The new ethanol gas we're all running deteriorates the rubber fuel lines and that filter wont catch the sand-like debris that makes its way into the carb. Just get an AC Delco plastic/paper filter, and an extra one for the glove box.

I don't like those filters for other reasons. The filter gets twisted some when the halves are screwed together, and they also can work loose and fuel can start to dump all over the place.

I also recommend taking the time to bend up a steel line to get the fuel from the pump to filter. I just don't like a floppy rubber hose wiggling around all that stuff. I just made one a couple weeks ago in about an hour's time and it can be installed without removing the water pump. Plus there's much less rubber hose to deteriorate.

Welcome! That is a beautiful square you got, I hope to see you do something less creative than that for the interior.
