Checking in from Houston. I’ve been lurking around and checking out square body’s for a couple years now, but now that my 05 equinox is nearing its end I’ve decided to get serious about looking. My only problem is that I need an extended cab so I can take my 4.5 year old daughter on adventures still.

From what I’ve seen that places my searching in the 88-98 year range. I’ve found a couple good deals but managed to be a day or two late on pulling the trigger. But it’s definitely helped me narrow down my preferences and have a better understanding of what I want.

My biggest problem will be having the patience to wait for the right one (or close enough) to pop up.

I’m here for research and opinions. Thanks for having me.

If you need a backseat and a pickup bed, you should look for a 73-91 crew cab. There were several upgrades to modernity over the course of production so if you want something with the most goodies, the 87-91 trucks will be more appealing to you. If you don’t need a pickup, a Suburban or a Blazer/Jimmy may suit you well, especially the latter if you can find one. The 88-98 trucks are the GMT400 series. They’re alright, but they don’t hold a candle to the square bodies in my book.
