Hello,
I just bought a 1982 Chevy k10 from my brother. I know next to nothing about these trucks, I just liked the way it looked.
I haven't driven it, but my brother stated that there is a noise coming from the transmission and that it may be the torque converter pump? A mechanic quoted him $950 to change out the torque converter and transmission pump or $1200-$1300 to rebuild the entire transmission.
I do not know what type of transmission it currently has, nor do I know how to check to see which one the truck has. My brother does not know either as he has received the truck through a trade a few months ago.
Please advise on what I should do about the transmission issue. The truck has 38 in tires and I want to make sure the transmission will be able to handle the stress of those tires.
I am not sure how to post pictures. I would definitely like to post some of the truck for you.
