Hi, I've been on the site for a few months scrambling to get my 87 V10 on the road. I've gotten lots of good advice from the members here and it was greatly appreciated. My truck is an 87 but has a 305 from an 84 in her with an Edelbrock 1406 carb. Not much as far as power but she is loud. Has dual flowmasters that exit behind the cab. A little too loud when driving but sounds MEAN when at idle or pulling out. Everyone turns their head.
Truck is pretty much stock and I'm keeping it at stock height for the unforseeable future. She fits in my garage and thats important when I want to work on her and it is 10 degrees out. She has a Rugby dump bed which would be useful but is just plain cool when I pull into the gas station and lift it up. I don't have to in order to put gas in it but it is a lot easier with the bed lifted.
I have done a lot of work to her so far: New wheel bearings and races, new Premium Warn Hubs, new fluids, new heater core, new evaporator delete cover, new front calipers and pads, new hoses, thermostat, resistor, turn signal switch, shifter handle spring, low beam bulbs, and a bunch of other stuff I can't remember.
She has a little bit of rust starting on the bottom of the doors, and tailgate but besides a little hole in the frame, is very solid for a northern truck. Looks good and straight. I get compliments where ever I go. I still have a bunch to do and I'm sure I'll be asking a million questions but he she is.....
