I installed a holley mechanical fuel pump and a 670 street avenger. It wouldn’t pump fuel so I hooked the line to a gas tank and it worked fine. The new pump only has the main feed and then the one to the carb, the old one has the return plus the other 2. Do i need to cap the return? Also with this new pump do I need a fuel pressure regulator?

Check for rotted fuel lines between the tank and the pump. Even a tiny leak will prevent the pump from drawing fuel. Did the stock system run before swapping to Holley parts? Do you have dual tanks?

I'd run the return line it's better for the pump. Is your pump mounted by the tank and as low as possible?
