Hi everyone! My name is Alex and I am from Toledo, Ohio. I just purchased my first truck and it is 1984 K10 Silverado. It has 164,000 on the body and 10,000 on the motor and trans since rebuild, allegedly. I was told it has a TH350 trans and a 355 motor. The body seems to be in decent shape except for the drivers door. The tailgate is pretty dented but it came with a new one. The frame looks good though.

I'd really like to restore the truck's body, rebuild its drivetrain and drop a new engine and maybe transmission in it. Then clean up and possibly change the color of the blue interior.

Since this would be the first car I bought to restore that actually needs more than just minor work I could use advice. The truck runs and drives fine. The trans shifts into gear hard sometimes but not often. Where would you start the restoration at? Make sure everything functional first? Repair the body? Work on the drivetrain and engine?

Thanks, looking forward to being part of the forum.

That's a good looking truck. Very good base to start with.

I would start with a light bulb LOL.

Welcome!

Thanks everyone. Yea, it could use some work on the lights! That's one of the first things I'll do this weekend. I have one of many questions I'm sure to ask. On my gauge cluster My speedo works, my fuel works, my engine temp works but my oil pressure gauge does not work neither does the tachometer that someone added to the truck.

I know the 355 engine is not original. Would your guess be that those gauges just aren't hooked up? And is that a hard thing to do?
