Hello new to the forum. 15yr old son and I want to tackle the restoration of our Black 1983 Chevy K30 4 speed and needs lots of TLC. I have had it parked our shed up north for about 9yrs. It ran when we parked it.
Son was talking about adding a 3-4" lift to it but can not seem to find to much on a K30 lift kits or know how to go about this.

He plans to build a Carb Vortex 383 but really wants to put a 496 in it.
I would like to get it home repair the rust paint it put engine in and drive it. We really have got it home to evaluate how far we will o have to go with it. We have tools and are pretty savvy at mechanical this will be our first body work, fix rust, and painting experience. Plan to use it as a truck still getting firewood or picking up rock for the yard.

My son absolutely loves this truck has loved it since he was 4-5 yrs old. He only road in it a couple times before I parked it, but to this day wants to bring it back to life.

No photos yet it has been in storage for many years we hope to pick it up this weekend and access what all we have to do. We found a '79 complete running 454 stock 1 ton truck engine with fly wheel to 4 speed. We will be checking it out this Sunday. For what the guy wants and it looks good we are getting it. Hello for what he wants for it we are getting it. Son can rebuild it in class. I am not sure what heads came on '79 truck engines I an betting peanut ports not sure. I have a set of 049 in garage that will wake it up a bit and with right cam and headers should have a nice engine for the truck. Nothing to big on HP build for more torque then anything. Keep you posted thanks

Has everything you need to lift a squarebody. I'm trying to decide between 2" or 4" lift for 79 k30 crewcab

thanks for the info. DO YOU think a K30 with a 4" lift will clear the Military 37" tires and wheels. I am not a lift expert but the stock height of a K30 is higher then a k10 or k20 by a few inches already. I was curious if we put on a 6' if it would be to much, but want to make sure he can run the 37" if he wants too. Plus not sure if ORD offers HD springs for the 6" lift. Our K30 will have a BBC in it. Son found a 454 out of a '79 and that is what he is rebuilding. Seen YOUTUBE vid where a guy installed a 4" in an 82 and it was raked a bit. h got 6" in rear and about 4.5" up front.

ORD says the 6 inch lift springs are hd and work for big block applications. My research says to properly fit 37s you'll need an 8 inch lift even for a k30. The wheel offset and back space are going to make or break what size tire you can make fit
