New from Michigan, but my 86 C2500 is in Georgia.

Hey guys, found this site about a month ago and finally getting around to my first post. I've got an 86 GMC Sierra Classic C2500 LWB Fleetside Camper Special, 454/TH400, 14bff 3.73. The truck is pretty well loaded, going down the options list it has:
tinted glass, sliding rear window, A/C, engine oil cooler, cruise, Aux tank, tilt, p/s, halogen lights, cassete stereo, hd radiator, front bumper guards, power windows/locks, exterior decor package.

Bought the truck for $750 knowing the motor was about to go (had a bad lower end knock). The truck is incredibly rust free, some body dings but nothing major. We've been dragging home old cars since I was born and my dad said this was the nastiest, greasiest one ever. The oil cooler lines were leaking and the entire underside of the truck was coated in old oil and dirt. That probably kept the rust at bay but I'm guessing it ran low on oil and we found it killed one of the rod bearings. Luckily no other engine damage.

I can tell it had a slide in camper for most of its life because the bed is scratched but dent free. Interior is pretty grungy but completely stock. My dad is doing the restoration work for me. It is going to be pretty low budget for now, he already went through the front suspension and all the brakes and has been doing body work. Just got the cash to rebuild the engine. After that it will be a home paint job, some new tires, and bring it up to Michigan in time for boating season.

Here are a few pictures of it when I bought it about two years ago.

As for other car projects, I've got a 57 Chevy, 2 door hard top BelAir V8 power pack car that I've had for about 28 years. That one is still in the barn in Georgia also. Once my kids get a little older that will be coming up here for a restoration.

Welcome fellow MI member! I also have a CS package truck, and mine too also had a slide-in used for most of life until recently.

Where in MI are you located? I am in West MI, between Grand Rapids and Muskegon.

We live in Metro Detroit but have a place in Holland. Our boat is in winter storage in Grand Haven.

Welcome to GMSB Terry. Certainly a worthwhile project. I prefer the 3/4 tons myself too. I've also got an 86 C20, oops I mean 84 C20 with FoFittyFo/Th400/14bFF. But, mine has wussy 3.21 rear end gears. Them 3.21's are just a bit to tall for towing any kind of weight. I'd prefer 3.73's myself.
