It's a multi-layer gasket. The middle layer is metal and also the windage tray. Its a dumb design imo.

Also no one stocks the correct gasket. Local parts stores all list the one I have, the correct part number per felpro won't even pull up on their system. (Yes I called them all). Dealer doesn't stock it either, why you might ask? because its jeep/durango 6.4l specific :banghead: So on pause till next weekend when I'm off again an the $135 oil pan gasket comes in :bawl:
Think I'd be getting inventive with a Dremel tool before yanking the engine back out...
The #409 cut off discs are under an inch diameter. So long as space allows....

That kind of thing is often based on suppliers and what cost they give for an uplift.

I quote business based on part count per year, and build tools to it.

You want me to go from 30k units a year to 45k, I need a new piece of equipment, or sooner refurbishment on my tool, or both to accommodate that.
