Looking good. So the frame mounts on the 71 work with the 60's bodies? I have two 66 c-10's, and am making a street rod out of one, and think this would be awesome to do with my spare parts...

I vote for keeping it half-ton to run the Vector wheels.

How far away will the fan be from the radiator.

the bed is a direct bolt on
the rear cab mounts on the frame need to be swapped to the 60's mounts
the front cab mounts are the same
the core support mounts are different but use the 67 to 72 rubber mounts and it works

and the 70's frame does not have the same front cross member in the 60's truck the radiator sits on a craddle on top of the frame cross member it can be swapped as well

and the front frame horns are different i plan to cut off the front couple inches of the frame and swap the frame horns

i have a 63 that i put on a 71 chassis years ago but became undecided what i wanted from that truck and never really finished it
never finished the rear cab mount swap. all i have to do is possition the mounts and drill the holes they are bolted to the cab just not the frame. and never swapped the frame horns
but i made it run and drive so i could move it around

it was my first truck when i was 15 and i kinda want to go back to a lowrider with it

i also have a 68 short bed 2 wheel drive chassis that either that 63 or another 63 i have is going to be swapped onto it

so i will have 3 60's bodys on 68 to 72 chassis

as for the fan to radiator distance i don't remember what it will be i can messure my 63 if you want it has a long pump with the factory radiator

i am running a long water pump so the fan will only be that much closer to the radiator. whatever the difference between the short and long water pump is

Thanks for the info on the mounts.

I was just trying to brain storm ideas for a shroud for the radiator.
I got thinking about my c10 project and just remembered I will be running electric fans due to no provisions for fan mounting to the fuel injected motor is putting in it.

gettin alot done

modified the radiator mount made it a side mount that bolts to the core support kinda like a dodge does. it worked out awsome could not fit the radiator in this truck better if i tried to.
the motor is almost ready to fire just the fuel line under the cab to hook up and distributer cap and wire and plugs and put fuel to it

Man, this is great project. Been awhile since I seen a vertical radiator. My 64 GMC may have been the last one of those I worked with.

ok so i had another idea last night at work. after i get this truck together i think i might post it up in a couple places for trade and see what other cool project i can trade it for.

i am not really sure what i wanted this truck for i just got it for the right price and can build it cheap and kinda fast. so i thought it would be a fun project.

see if i can get a cool hot rod out of it

You built the fugger for me !!! No need to finish it. Just get the body mounted to the frame and all tha good ****, I'll finish it. I'd love to find me another 64-66, preferably GMC. 4x4 would be cool too, or a 3/4 ton. Don't really want a half ton 2x4.

thats a pretty steep starting price i was thinking about 5 or 6 grand

if it had a nice body and nice paint 10,000 would be cheap but its not that kind of truck

well I think this truck just got shoved into becoming a mud truck

I found out the 12'' lift spring I bought for my mud truck build kleedus they are for the older trucks 72 and down

it has been awhile since I bought them so no chance of returning them and getting the right ones

so picture this truck with 15 inches of lift and 44'' tires

kleedus will not die just its build plan will change a bit

in the picture of the short bed you can see the rear shackle angle is way wrong the springs are to short for the 87 chassis I put that body on
