Hey guys, I picked up a set of doors that were off of the truck when I bought them so I have no idea what they are off. I first thought they were 81+, but I bought window vent seals for an 81+ and they do not fit they are 2 piece riveted, not 1 piece), definitely has the pre 81 vents. These doors seem thinner than my 79’s as well as the 76 doors that I have, but I could be wrong.

Any ideas, are these 77-80 or 81+?

I bought one piece for my 86. Was what was called for. But 86 is 2 piece ( I didn’t even think to check when I ordered. It could be 80s door and 2 piece vent window seals

That is my concern. Seems to be later vent window locks and later handles, but I could be wrong. One of the doors had a 1981-1987 door panel like the one in this link, the other had no door panel.

My other concern is the glass thickness. I dont want to get the wrong seals if someone Frankenstein’d these doors. They are in excellent shape on the outside other than some surface rust on the inside. Can’t complain for $60 a door, I’d still like to use them.

That door handle definatly looks pre 81, but no earlier than 77 because the screw holes for the door panel were been in different places. I have doors off a 76, and they looks different, but I took a set of panels off a 77 the other day and the doors looked like that. So I'd say 77-80.

There is a good comparison. We had same problem on Easton’s 76. Had newer doors and he wanted to take out electric windows and locks and go back factory. As for the vent rebuilds, Precision seals are the best and there is a ton of info and videos on their website to help, just need patience! www.prp.com

This was the most relevant thread I read which relates to the same issue I have. I am not sure which seals I should purchase. I believe my doors are 81-87 with single seal wing windows. Any insight would be greatly appreciated?

I believe you are correct on both accounts. Also, you have 90's G-van power mirrors.

Thank you for the response Bucket. What’s confusing me is the main window channel seal. LMC calls out a one piece or two piece design based on year range. When I took it apart it looked like two pieces (73-80) but they were in rough shape so not positive; the 81-87 are one piece design. Not sure if the vent window type factors the window seal choice. The doors originally are power but no wiring. I don’t see wires for the mirrors either.

The window run channels are 2-piece on the pre-'81, from what I remember anyway. Many of mine have been 3 or 4 piece when I remove them, lol.

The run channel type correlates to the glass thickness, which just happened to change the same year as the wing windows. The pre-'81 wing windows are shaped a little different at the top, with a wider section of weatherstrip at the top to match.

The vans used the same "dumbo" mirrors as the trucks, except for the swan neck type post. They have often been used as replacements on trucks. My guess is that they didn't get the later power mirrors on purpose, they just wanted to install the dumbo mirrors to replace tripod style mirrors or something. Or the original dumbo mirrors were gone or broken. Or.... they were like me and installed power mirrors as an upgrade, but then never got around to wiring them in.

@bucket was right as always…removed the mirrors and they were wired, also found power door lock mechanism in each door.
