Reuse your original line and things should fall into place. If you don't have the original get or copy an original. They were metal so the wouldn't suck shut like rubber tubing and cause erratic shifts and the way they were bent kept moisture out of the line so they wouldn't freeze shut in the winter.

Behind the carb. Usually it's the port on the intake that either has a vacuum tree or just a barb or two.
I now have an aluminum intake and the port is right on top. I got my line installed and is back to shifting the way it should. It does need a fluid and filter change again so that's next.
