Today I lost power to driver and passenger side power windows.
I was under the dash replacing the neutral safety switch and I must have jostled something in the process because even though the windows went down prior to moving it into the garage, as soon as I put everything back together neither side works.
Already tested for power at the fuse block and there’s no power. All the other accessories work fine, so it’s only the windows that are effected. I don’t have a wiring manual. Where should I start tracking down the problem?
Truck is an 83’ K20.

I wonder if a ground on the bus bar up by the parking brake pedal is loose. Or, if somehow one of the plugs on the ignition switch is loose. Just a wild guess based on the worked before.

Good Luck !

Interesting.
I was messing around with the steering column trying to install the safety switch.
What on the column could be causing it?

If you jostled the 2 connectors on the ignition switch it could be causing power issues. I recently had weird blower issues - neither would work , then would- that turned out to be a bad spot on a terminal of the ignition switch. Blower requires key on power. Your power window issues could be similar in cause. Wiggle the connectors and see. Does not cost anything to try.

I hope it works, but if not, maybe it helps eliminate a cause.

Power windows should be run off of a breaker, breaker is hot with key in run position. Did you check the breaker? Was the key on? Window motors ground to the door frame so that shouldn't be an issue.

Tested the teminal on the fuse block with the key on and there’s no power. Both breakers tested for conductivity. No power is getting to the fuse block.

Does everything else work except for the windows?
