Might as well replace the pins along with the springs while you're in there. When you say hops I assume you mean wheel hop? Standard or auto trans? Lift blocks in the rear?

SM465 and lift blocks will make wheelhop worse, especially if your clutch has been blistered. As for the springs/pins, when you take the cover off just look for anything obvious, debris in the bottom of the pumpkin, loosness in the carrier, etc. Also check the crosspin and bolt. Also check the instructions and see if it calls for the thrust washers from behind the side gears. If so yours may be worn out or something.

That will take some finess learning how much throttle it takes to engage the locker. A buddy of mine bitched about the same thing, even said in a straight line he could tell with a certain amount of throttle it would lock, and he removed/sold it lol. Maybe an LSD would work better for the rear axle if you do a lot of street driving?

May look into a good Eaton posi sometime down the road if you're not happy with the peg-legger. Not as much harsh "on or off" operation like a locker.
