Hello I bought a 78 Chevy pickup 1500 I don't know what model or any thing I was told it had the rear end rebuilt with a locker and same with the front can any one tell me what axles I may have and how to tell if it has a locker or limited slip it the axles are not on any vehicle now so I can't just go burn em off

78 should be dana 44 front and 12 bolt rear

i have heard 10 bolts started showing up in 77 but i have never seen anything earlier than 81 with factory 10 bolts

My 78 had a 10-bolt front, and dad's 79 has a 10-bolt front.

i have heard 10 bolts started showing up in 77 but i have never seen anything earlier than 81 with factory 10 bolts

The fronts started during the '77 model year, with the 10 bolt rear axle coming in later years. My old '77 had a D44 and my current '77 has a 10 bolt.
