K3500 Trans/gearing help

With his combo he should be at 2600 rpm @ 70. That's taking into consideration non lock up converter of 200rpm.

And the K3500 does have the D60 still. :waytogo:

I'd rock the C30 too, but first thing I do is get some OEM springs for it.

1986 k3500 Dually

Hello everyone. I'm new here and I have an 86 3500 dually 4x4. 454 4 speed. At 55 MPh I feel like the motor is screaming. Help

Hello everyone. I'm new here and I have an 86 3500 dually 4x4. 454 4 speed. At 55 MPh I feel like the motor is screaming. Help

It probably is if you're running stock height tires and 4.10's or 4.56's in the axles.

I am running 285/75-16s. The original window sticker says 4.10s. I think with the 4" lift I may be able to fit 35s. Or should I consider 3.73s?

For the cost of regearing 2 axles, if it were me, I'd have my cake and eat it too by keeping the low end 4.10 grunt, but I'd swap out to a 4L80-E with stand alone controller and have an OD with Lock Up Converter that will keep my trans cooler too or NV4500 if wanted manual.
