Actually switching my 99 K3500 c&c to solid axle and C60 sourced rear springs. Retired (very tired) well driller welding truck. Do I have to, no, but need more clearance for disaster recovery use. Also switching it back to steel dually wheels, and 14 ply tires.

Truck is worn out at 150,000 miles, trust it less than my 85 C10 swb.
I will admit, one of the coolest trucks I've ever seen was a new offering at the time, IFS dually that had a solid axle swapped in. It looked sick!

Building a blend of these 3. First truck’s grille guard, third truck’s grill, middle truck’s lift and conversion. My 92 K1500 will sit like the lifted ifs truck, with f/r 13500# winches, and looking at a 56 body donor later today.

Every day is Yule for old truck fans in sw TN. Get away from Memphis/Jackson, and even old K20 show rigs gone to seed are cheap. Looking at an 85 with ladder bars, okay body, no engine or interior, Barts whhels/40” Ground Hawgs, for $2500…

18mpg+ is in line with the estimated mpgs for that truck. Evidence right there that it’s running like new! (Not that I’ve ever seen EPA mpgs out of any truck except a few diesels ….lol)

What Perry said, BUT, I am not up to speed with the designation GMT 400-800. Is that a year series?

Yeah, the '88-'98 years (they actually went longer than that though, through '02) are known as the GMT 400.

And to add, at some point the GMT 400s took on the unofficial OBS designation as well.
But it’s cool that some vehicles, mostly old trucks it seems, have gotten universal nicknames like squarebody, OBS, dent side, bump side, bull nose, ugly as fck (oops I mean bricknose, lol).
Actually sound like it’s mostly ford….haha they never could get something right enough to keep it the same for a long time! Hahahahaha
