Hi all,
I can't seem to find a backing plate and parking brake lever for 13" drum brake setup for 3/4 ton rear end. 14 bolt SF on a regular 1986 K10. Believe most folks call this a heavy half ton. It was swapped in at some point before my ownership but regardless, can't find much online. Anyone have extra parts laying around or an online resource where I can source these? **PICS ARE OF PASSENGER SIDE**
Currently, I have it such that the passenger side has a duplicate driver's side backing plate and parking lever. This works out, however my parking brake is entering the brake system from the rear of tire instead the front of the tire causing it to engage well before driver side parking brake due to extra length being used to make bend around axle. I was wanting to drill a hole in the backing plate opposite current hole for parking brake cable to enter on the front of the backing plate since it seems mirrored from factory just drilled depending on if it was a right or left part. Only thing then would be to move the parking lever to the correct side but the knob on lever that attaches through to the brake shoes wouldn't be on the correct side. Can I take a hammer and bang that knob out and flip it around on the assembly of the lever? Any insight on this approach would be appreciated. Only wanting to do this if I can't source OEM/aftermarket parts.
