Tilt vs non tilt is different tooI don't know what year it changed over (I'd guess '84), but the earlier cylinders are retained with a spring tab, while the later ones are retained with a screw.
Which part number would work then? The one they sent me or your part number?Standard Motor Products Motor Products, Inc. - Lock Cyl (US-117LT)

IIRC You need to either push the tab keeper in place or you need to somethign to get it engagedWell I installed the new lock cylinder but it pulls right back out just like the old one without having to depressed anything. Any ideas why?
Earlier than that. I believe 77 may be the changeover year. Note that if they have never been removed and are the push to release style then the release slot may still be flashed over.
my 1978 tilt column wouldnt work on my 1980 gmc without tilt, but i suspect without tilt would haveI remember for sure that my '78 had the older style with no screw.
But now I just realized that I very recently put a good used ignition cylinder in my daughter's '89. It had the retainer screw. I don't remember where the hell it came from, but the tag on it read "1977 K5 Blazer".
So I don't really know I guess.
