i dont know how 4 wheel drive works

Yup. Everything will be rotating and be power all the way up to the outer axle shafts. The hubs only disconnect the wheel hub from the outer axle shaft.

So yes, everything will be lubed appropriately.

You don't want H Lock dude, you want H.
That way you can drive on concrete in 4wheel.
H Lock is best on dirt,mud,snow,ice - something that allows slippage at road speed.

Slap it in the H, lock the hubs, and go try it out!

Can't mess it up that way...when you don't want 4wheel, unlock the hubs.

I drive in H with only the driver side hub locked - almost all the time.

Rusty, he has a converted 203 case.

4hiloc with the hubs unlocked would be equivalent to being in 2wd, except that it would oil the front half of the transfer case. He was asking if that would be alright to ensure proper oiling of it on a routine basis, not for 100% daily driving.

H in his case is only 2Hi which is perfect for daily driving.

Is it recommended for a part time transfer case like the NP208 with manual hubs to also put into 4hi every once and a while to lubricate the transfer case and front diff?

doesn't the NP208 have an oil pump to circulate the oil without the need to put it in 4wd? highdesertranger

Im sayin if dude wants to learn about his 4wd, Hloc is not the best recommendation.
It's not like it won't lube in H, and that is cool for daily driving - can't mess it up. He runs a much greater risk of breaking **** in Hloc, ESPECIALLY since this conversation started with his proclamation of ignorance on the subject.

Seems pretty common-sense to me. Use H first, ESPECIALLY on pavement. You'll be better off. After you figure that out, the other selections are more advanced.
