My 85 3/4 ton has 4.10s, 35s and a SM465. My brother in law who I got it from claims he was getting 12 MPG with it. It has an edelbrock 750, headers and exhaust but the motor it self is stock as far as compression, cam, intake and heads go. This is also with a vacuum advance lock out in the distributor he was running so it might have got better if he had a vacuum advance in it. Also the carb was not tuned. Just bolted on and ran how it was out the box.

+2MPG is significant. I do wonder, though, if the upgrade to the MSD was worth it just to get 1MPG more ;)

I primarily made the change to the MSD for the tuneability and to control ignition. Yes, it was an expensive exercise for 1mpg. Like they said in the song, or maybe it was just the album cover..." you can tune a piano, but you can't tuna fish...or the old GM ECM.
