Hey guys, new member here...
I have a 1982 c10, rebuilt 355, tbi. As far as I know it's just a simple rebuild... Well after about 2 months of having it it started not cranking after its been warmed up to nominal temp. Acts as if a dead battery or starter is too hot. In my troubleshooting I have replaced:
Starter
Battery
Exhaust
Starter cable from batt
Engine grounds
Checked alt.
distributor
Ign. Coil
Ign. Switch on column
Plugs
Wires
Various other wires in ign circuit
TB gasket
Throttle pos sensor
Egr valve

I think that's about it lol
But no matter what it refuses to crank after warmed up... Last I changed were egr and tps and timing had to be adjusted, and I thought I had it figured out... After warmed up it would crank, didn't want to, bit would. But then when I tried to drive it, it acts as if the timing is too retarded and have absolutely no power and would seem to slam into gear, so time it back up. Shifts smoother but has to completely warm up to temp.... And of course won't crank for an hour or so after you kill it...

I'm beyond ready to drive it off a cliff, and I have more issues than this to figure out.. Bit this is the one I've dumped money into finding so here I am...
All help is much appreciated.
Thanks for your time.

Did you change the ground cable from the alternator bracket to the battery?

They're only good for about ten years. Then they get temperature sensitive.

You said TBI so does it also have electronic spark control? If so are you disabling it when you check and set the timing?

When you turn the key does it do nothing but click or does it just turn the motor over real slow? Or does it turn over fine and just not start?

Wires have been replaced, timed it by ear and feel, and the starter drags nice and slow. Injectors seem fine and from what I've heard hardly a problem

Use a timing light and set it to 8-10 deg advance with the ESC disconnected and report back......
