Hey guys I was wondering if anyone could help me figure this issue out. The hood to the C20 that I am fixing up sticks on the large bolts that stick up on the firewall. No matter how I adjust the hood it still stick to the bolt on the drivers side. Anyone have an idea on what I could to do to center the bolt in the hole that it goes into on the hood? Or are my hood hinges bad?

Pictures. Sounds like worn hinges maybe. But not quite sure what you've got going on, without seeing it.

Pics are a great diagnostic tool in a truck forum. Helps a ton. Post 'em up so we can see what you're seeing

I don't know how I'm going to get a pic of where it sticks at just because of the location. I will try and see if I could get a pic of it in the morning. I think I have an idea on how to take the pic.

Just get some pics of the problem spots you think are the issue. If you can get a pic of the actual issue that's even better.

Like hinge mounts for example.

Here is the pics on where it catching. I was unable to get a pic of the issue happening but you can see where the bolt paint is chipped but also where the metal is deformed from where the bolt hits the side of the hole on the hood.

We could use some more, of like the hinges, but seems like your hinges are wore out and the back of the hood sits high?

I took the hinges off of the hood and there was a lot of play in them so I think your right the hinges are bad on it. The hinge on the drivers side was the one that had a lot more of play in it then the passenger side which the driver side is the side that the hood was sticking. I ordered some new hinges so we will see when they come in.

You may have to enlarge holes or modify the new hinges to get your hood aligned, many of the aftermarket hinges are crap.

I had good luck so far with a 30 dollar pair from Amazon that came gloss black. I can tell the metal is slightly flimsy vs stock but I just make sure to use grease and also nice meaningful ups and downs I need to move my catch so it goes down easier but that’s the only problem. I can’t comment on panel figment or alignment because I’m using a 77 hood on a 80 which isn’t gonna align perfectly no matter how you try. They aren’t matches :(

Be careful with hinges esp when one is easier than the other to operate because that’s how a lot of hoods got kinked. Right now my hood is a ski for a 77 frame with onl a front dif because of that

What year is your square you don’t have. 75 or lower do you?
