Hey guys Im Liam and im new to the site.

Im 19 and have spent the last 2 years working on my 1986 chevy k20.
bought it with bad enigne, cab and box. I bought a 350 off craiglist...that didnt last. so i just finished my first rebuild on the new 355. Bought a nice 2wd cab becuse i coulndt find a nice 4x4 cab, and just got new southern bed.

The pictures show the block before rebuild and it almost done after. I got it installed in a couple hours and just broke it in 2 days ago. The pic of the truck in all red was before i bought it. very rotted, and the final pic is the truck how it sits now.

Welcome to the forum, Liam! Glad to see young guys into wrenching, so many these days aren't. Are you going to get it all painted red some day or have other plans for the color? Mine has a 2Wd cab as well, saves a bundle on insurance! Hey, what they don't know wont hurt em.

what do you have to do to a 2 wheel drive cab to make it fit a 4x4?

Couple inch body lift, or cut the trans hump out of your old one and weld it in the 2WD cab (which is what I did).

Thanks guyss love the site. The 2wd cab was alot cleaner still had to do rockers and cab cornors though. I plan to paint it that blue the bed is and I'll have to cut out he trans tunnel to make a new one or what ever. It's been under coated with chassis saver and just installed a freshly rebuilt 355

Hey Liam, Welcome to GMSB. Glad you found us, and thanks for sharing your truck. You'll have a few envious members. Some of us like or prefer K20's and they aren't all that easy to find these days. Espeically in good shape. As you found out, you got one, but it required a cab replacement and a motor. All worth it though. I firmly beleive the K20 drivetrain is certianly more tolerable of abuse. Of course the front axle is the same as a K10. I like the stiffer springs, and the 14b Full Float rear ends and bigger driveshafts and U joints.

BTW, I moved your thread to Introductions of the Members Ares, so if you bookmarked, its likely changed now.
