Hey guys, I'v been interested in a new look for my truck. It's really beat up. It has two different shades of black and there is some minor rust and dents. I asked my body man what he could do and he said it would cost me an arm and a leg. Have you guys ever considered painting your truck with herculiner? How do you think it would turn out? It's going to be my daily driver and mudder on the weekends.

Thanks for any input!

You can hand paint it with enamel for like $300 and it will look great from 10 feet. Go look at my pics.

Yup. I just did my truck in blue monstaliner. I did the bed rails, rear bumper, and grille a few years ago with Herculiner. I like it on the rear bumper as the chunks of rubber in there do provide some nice grip when I'm standing on the bumper. But other than that it makes it hard to clean, and it was kinda on the thin side.

That would be nice you had the back of the truck filled up with $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to do it.

I couldn't afford it, so that is why I did it at home.

A few years ago they quoted me $650 just to do the bed of the truck.

Wow seems high, My dad had his whole bed on his truck done with it coming up and following the profile of a bed rail cap for $300.

Just don't get any Herculiner on your Hootus. And if you do, just google Herculiner on your Hootus and you will find out why not to.

Quite possibly in other states things are more reasonable. There is only 1 place in town here, and the next closest place is 160 miles away, and I think they are the only one down there.

It was over $3,000 for them to do the outside of a little CJ-5 years ago.

That seems pretty normal for pricing in michigan too. A few years ago, I got some prices for Line-x, Rhino liner and whatever the dealer I worked for at the time was spaying in for bedliners, when I wanted the inside of my old jeep done. Everybody was in the $500-$600 ballpark.

Wow when they did my dads truck it looked about perfect and he has never had any issues with peeling, fading or cracking.

He got a helluva deal on the price. I ended up spraying the inside of the jeep tub myself, with a kit from Al's Liners. It came out ok. Was hoping for a higher build on the material, but it's been in for 4 years now, and has held up well enough.
