Help!!!!

Hi guys

I just started my 1987 V-10 finally and when we decided to take it for a spin, we put the truck in reverse and it died and then we heard a loud noise, we then pushed it back a bit and tried again same thing the engine stalls and we hear a very funny noise. We then got the truck out to see if drive worked and it did for about a mile we decided to see if we could then put it in reverse and the truck died again when we put it in drive again the Noise was louder and shook the truck and we couldn't move after getting the truck home we put the truck in reverse we noticed that the drive shaft is spinning and the tires don't move


So my question is what can i do to fix this problem?

Sounds like the crosspin retaining bolt may have backed out, letting the x-pin slip out a little and a spider gear jumped out of place. Hopefully your ring & pinion didn't get destroyed.

Exploded spider. Examine the other gears (other spider, both side gears, and main ring & pinion) and determine further damage. Small chips are ok but if you see a good chunk off a gear, and can tell it has seen drive force on it, replace what needs it.

All the internals in the truck are fried opened up the rear diff and found lots of pieces of gears... sad part is that i went to salvage yards and no one carries the gears i want/need they only sell the whole diff with unknown gears.... Anyone know where i can get all the internals for cheap or cheaper then most places?

The pinion on the truck is done for to couldn't upload the pictures of the other pieces that didn't make it

What's the specs? 10 bolt, 14-bolt semi-floater, 14-bolt full-floater? What gear ratio?

GM 10 bolt with 3.73 I'm really looking for 4.10s due to the large tires that the truck has.

How big a tire you talkin? Time to upgrade to heavier axles? Otherwise keep breakin the 10-bolt ****.

35 in tires. Only thing holding me back is that this truck might be sold or parted out still don't know

Well hell I wouldnt bother with changing to 4.10s then.

Then do you know where i can find some 3.73 all salvage yards here don't sell just the internals must buy whole diff and the u-pull its don't have the right gears

What other vehicle can i pull the gears out off?
