I have a 1985 k20. it has a long gas tank that goes all the way to my spring perch. Long bed.
I also have a 1987 GMC 1500 long bed. it has short tanks they're not very close to the spring perches.are these short tanks equivalent to the short bed trucks? Im
going to convert my 87 to short bed. so I'm trying to find out if I need to purchase different tanks.

Short beds have 16 gallons. Long beds have 20 gallons and I think 32? If you are converting to a short bed you will need the shorter tanks.

Long beds came with either or 16 or 20 gallon tanks. There is no 32 gallon saddle tank.

All short beds however only came with 16 gallon tanks for obvious reasons.

If you have the 16s on a long bed already you should be able to just cut down the fuel fill hoses and reuse everything on the short bed.
