Help identify engine

Hello everyone, new member here. Just picked up a 84 c10 with a 350 in it. I know they didnt come with one but i would like to know more about it. The plate where you get the suffix code has 3 different stamps on it. The one that sticks out the most is "V0126FLL" the next one is "SBI" then "CHF393689" if i can post a picture of it, I will. thanks in advance!

Oh and it is a 4 bolt one piece seal. and from what i can tell from the casting number it is a 87-95 block, but 2 of the numbers are smudged pretty bad so i just guessed at them

The V0126 means manufactured in Flint Michigan on January 26th. This table shows the FLL as an '84 350, which seems to match. http://www.73-87.com/7387info/engineid.htm

The 350 was available in '84 trucks, but by that time most C10's seemed to have 305's. If someone has installed a junkyard engine, it could be just about any SBC engine size. If its a GM replacement crate engine its almost always a 350, even if the original engine was a 305.

Thanks for the reply Bruce! I couldn't find the suffix FLL anywhere! Lol.

What has me puzzled is the casting number and the one piece RMS. The casting number(from what I can tell) is 14093638 and that number was used from 87-95 from what I could find anyway. As far as the RMS I thought that they didn't start that till 86 or 87

FLL could have been used in other years though, right?

They way the casting numbers are, it can be easy to misread it. Especially when 3's and 8's are involved. But even with that, I'm sure you aren't mistaken about the rear seal.

Is the fuel pump boss a blank casting, or is there a pushrod hole machined into the block? A lot of the later '87-'95 blocks did not have the hole drilled for use with a mechanical pump.

I does have a mechanical pump on it. I should also mention that this engine came with a flat tappet cam, not a roller

Trucks stuck with a flat tappet cam in those years, despite the blocks having provisions for a roller cam.
