Hi everyone,
I just joined the site to be able to socialize with fellow square body enthusiests. I became a fan when I was a kid watching a tv show (don't even recall the show, McGuiver maybe) but was enthralled by this massive brown truck. Instant fan. I owned an 84 K20 a few years back, but was too big of a headache at the time so I sold it and got something newer. Now that I'm in a better position I picked up the one I was really looking for.
I just recently got my 86 K30 with a 454 and a TH400 trani. I plan on making it an off road truck with towing duties. Of coarse, all of my focus right now is making it daily driver worthy (I have a method to my madness, thirsty 454 means I drive less and buy less fuel; I walk a lot). It will get all it's mods after I finish my 68 C10 long bed that I got from my grandpa when he passed away. It's in the body shop now and should be done next year. So as of now I have a second project truck and boy do people move out of my way when I want to change lanes. The list includes a 4" lift, 35" tires, rebuild the 454 and TH400, a pickup bed, and a 5th wheel hitch. Eventually a restoration will be in store but until then a trail and hunting truck.
I'm going to probably be asking a ton of questions for what all of you have done to increase towing capabilites so bear with me when I start picking your brains. And not in the "BRAINZZ" sort of way.
