Greetings from central KY. Don't have a squarebody yet but I'm on the lookout. Somehow convinced my wife to let me get another toy as long as I can get it on the cheap. I've owned several similar trucks and now am finally ready to get a project that I can work on without affecting my daily driver.
I've owned:
82 S10 (sold)
98 GMC C1500 (sold)
93 S10 Blazer (sold)
96 Chevy K1500 (sold)
00 GMC Sonoma (sold)
04 Chevy K1500 (current)
08 Chevy Tahoe (current)
I'm really partial to the OBS trucks, and thought about getting another one of those, but I also like the simplicity of these squarebody trucks. I want something that's easy to fix/maintain/mod, but also something that has a little bit of character in case I ever decide to put $$ into it and do the car show thing. I already try and involve my kids with car repair/maintenance but hoping this project teaches me (and them) a lot of new skills.
I'm open to any year, but if I had my druthers I'd like to find a 78 GMC K10(K15?)/K20(25?) long bed for as cheap as possible without needing a bunch of rust/frame work. I'm talking like 750-1500 is about what I'd like to spend to get started.
