First time posting to this site, but I've been lurking in the background and reading. I'm running a very unusual "square body" since it's a GMC/Chevy P30 chassis under a Fleetwood Pace Arrow Y27 motorhome. HD emissions carburetor 454(no cats) dual exhaust, currently with a 400-424 trans to a dually full float 14 bolt rear. According to the odometer, it's got a shade over 60,000 on it. Body is good shape, but looking to update/upgrade the drivetrain. I know that some parts are fairly simple to get, but some are no longer available. So I'm hoping to find alternative parts, builders, and information from all of you folks. Thx in advance for the help.

Welcome from the Tarheel State. Is that what is called the "workhorse" chassis with the 10 lug stuff beneath?

No, this is the original P30 chassis with the 8 on 6.5 lug pattern. The 'Workhorse' chassis came out about '88-'89 model year. They did produce the 10 lug precursor with the 178 inch frame, but mine is the 158 inch frame for this year, but most of those were in the 33-35 ft class of motorhomes. Mine is considered as 27ft even though it measures 28' 9' bumper to bumper.

As for pics, I can't post much. I'm actually living in it while on private property. Bit of a no-no in the county where I'm at. But at least the roof over my head is paid in full. As for parts, one thing I've been trying to find is a set of tuned long tube (31in primary) headers into a 3.5 in collectors. I know that they were made for a while, but not anymore. If I have to, I'll see if I can get a reputable shop to make a set. But if I have to go from scratch, I'm going to run 304 stainless 14 gauge 1.75 primary to a 18" 3.5 collector before I neck it down to 3 inch for the rest of the exhaust. There were some old dyno pulls with that exhaust setup, and the old 454 seemed to get the best low/mid/ upper torque bands out of it. Also planning on an air gap dual plane intake to feed it. Gotta have the best torque bands I can get since this beast is going to be pulling about 15,000 lbs fully loaded. And yes, a trans swap is also in the plans as well.

Some good information regarding the P30 chassis do some research as to what you for sure have. P30 is a generic term for the chassis but their were several versions and ording p30 stuff when you a p32 or a p42 will probably end up with you getting incorrect parts. You have already known that, maybe not. I've got 2 chassis motorhomes so I learn what I have to https://www.oemys-performance.com/m...the,the alignment specs for the truck version.
