grille mod?

Thinking of doing a grille like this one pictured for my truck but with a twist possibly I love something different and you don't see a ton of these grilles out there anymore.
First idea was a mesh insert for each hole
Second idea has to do with dimple die sheet metal with smallish circular holes, what do you think? Opinions welcome!

I think that will cut the air flow to your radiator by 50%.

Why not try using wire mesh behind the grille? It's a bit more open than the normal expanded metal.
