So I have this mechanic who's done work for me before had offered to do an LS swap into 86 k10 with the np208 t-case and 700r4..

He's said it cost $2500 but that's with the 5.3L and msd system included in price. He's def not an idiot when it comes to these swaps.

Is that a good deal? Id do the swap myself but I don't have the tools or know how and my dads only swapped old sbc and bbc..

That's a good deal. He's basically doing it for less than $1500.

But I'd go EFI. Did the carbed ls...won't go back.

But if you drive it that rarely, just leave whatever motor is in it, in it.

Motor in it is a 305 with bad bearings an I have a mildly built 350 sitting at my parents I could use. I wanna be able to jump in it and drive wherever I need to go without any worries.

And I still haven't worked the kinks out to find out if that includes all parts also.

Well I just talked to my buddy and can get a 5.3 with 120k out of an 02 Chevy with everything included for like $450..

He's done an ls swap before so it shouldn't be too bad if I decide to do it. I'll just need to find a good LT header that will fit. And he has a guy that will tune it for me also.

Any good advice on a wiring harness I should use? Stock one modified or is there a good decent priced painless harness?

Guy I work with did a 5.3 swap into his brothers 76 Camaro. They used a painless harness. He said while it was nice, he would use a stock one next time. I think they had about $4k into his. Don't forget you will need to upgrade your fuel system for EFI. Ask if that is in your $2500 price.

Considering this, I would swap in your 350. It all really depends on what your end goal is for the swap.

I may do this first since it's quicker and easier. And save up for all the necessary parts for the ls swap. I've been doin a lot of research on what I'd need!
