GM 10 bolt front Spline Count ID

Aside from pulling and axle, is there anything externally that identifies a GM 10 bolt front as 28 or 30 spline inner axle shaft ?

Not that I'm aware of. Maybe the year it was built.

The GM 10 bolt front axle was available with 28 spline axle shafts up until 1988/early 89 and then had 30 spline axles till the end of production of the the solid axle trucks in 1991.
If no one swapped the axle or did a conversion to 30 spline axles shafts this should help.

90 and 91 should be 30 spline.
I'm looking for one of these in 6 lug form for my k5 now.
