Just a follow up. In another thread I showrd how I chamged the stock old 350 plugs to rhe newer vprtec plugs for my vortef heads. They were a half inch longer.

Today I filled up, took 15 gallons even. Still have 5 left.

On this tank I drove all day sunday in town, and even pulled the boat about 10 miles. Then mknday and tkday drove to work and back. Drove like a bat out of hell. Downshifting into second gear everytime I merged on another hwy, and speeds of 80+. Drove it like I normally do.

Got 14.14 mpg. Thats pretty damn good for a heavy 3/4 ton going high speeds. Went like 212 miles or so

That is pretty impressive. If I drive like I have an egg on gas pedal, the very best I've gotten in my C20 is 13.2 with a tailwind behind me. Around town avg about 8-9 and 10-11 on the hwy with my normal driving habits. And I know my speedo and odo is accurate. Of course, that's with a 454/Th400 NO OD with 3.21 wussy wagon gears. Now towing a trailer with a car on it, I do good to get 6 mpg @ 60mph on the highway cuz the motor is under a strain. I think if I had 4.10's, towing in 3rd without OD, I think I could get 8-10 towing. I'd be tickled shitless to get 14 mpg. And damn, that's a carbed motor isn't it? Not even TBI.
