Just got an 82 k10. Had it running and idling before I bought it. Battery was weak so we boosted it. Was said to have a trans line gone so I had it hauled home. Replaced the battery when I got it home. When I hook the leads to the terminals. It fries the fusible link, with the the ignition off.

I had the truck boosted, running and idling before I bought it, no issues. Now it keeps burning the link.

Any idea?

Reversed the polarity when hooking up the new battery? If it ran before you messed with it, retrace what you did.

Most likely cause - battery hooked up backward. Usually burns the link at the junction on the firewall next to the brake booster. Luckily it probably didn’t damage anything other than the fusible link.

You don’t even need to ask why I know this can happen.
