Front Axle help

On the front axle of an 87 k5 on the round part in the middle theres a tube coming out of the top with a hose hooked to it. What is that for?

Vent tube.

ok if there was a hole in that hose would fluid come out of there?

It's not supposed to. How much fluid?

im not 100% sure that where its coming from but right by where that hose connects there was a lil puddle of fluid there its new and I looked at that hose and saw it had a hole in it so I was guessing it was either from that or I might be leaking oil some where right above that.
