F350 back to work

Got the 1999 F350 back from paint! Looks pretty good, much better than before. Before I took it for painting I removed the running boards, rear bumper and emblems. Also replaced the headlights and taillights. The body is rust and dent free, minus a few small dings here and there so there were no surprises at the paint shop.

Once home I replaced all the emblems with new ones, put the bumper and running boards back on and added new cab roof lights.

The Ford and I have had our disagreements over the years but the wife loves it for pulling the horse trailer. It’s a great drivetrain burdened by a Ford body lol. With only about 130k miles it will be with us for many more years.

The wife calls the truck Scarlett.

Nice looking truck. New, not fogged up headlights and taillights go a long way to compliment the fresh paint.

Looks like your passenger front tire is getting a little bare in the tread dept?

Yep, tires are next on the list before its annual inspection. Also got a few lights out.

@TotalyHucked my late parents bought this truck new and didn’t drive it much. The wife always got nervous pulling the horse trailer with the Dodge as it’s a stick. Without the trailer hooked up she shifts gears like a pro, lol. So anyway as the parents got older and sold their horses they didn’t need the Ford so we bought it from them.

Once my dad had a brain fart and parked the Ford in the field overnight, with the horses. They chewed the crap out of it; mirrors broke, teeth marks on the body. Don’t know what the hell he was thinking.

Actually horses, even though they’re not completely color blind, cannot see Red. It would just look grey.

Driving the Ford down the road yesterday at around 35 mph. Hit a bump; not a particularly noteworthy bump, just a bump. Heard a bang….was very surprised to see my tailgate being drug down the road, held only by the LH cable!

Immediately pulled over to rescue the tailgate and see wtf happened. Both bolts securing the RH latch were gone and the latch was loose inside the tailgate. This allowed the tailgate to lift up and it came off the post it pivots on.

Didn’t mess the tailgate up too bad but was hell on the new paint. Figure I’ll take the tailgate back to MAACO (they just painted the truck last October) and get it fixed. In the meantime I bolted the latch back in.

A great power train handicapped by a Ford body. Every door, anything that even looks like a door or had parents that were doors, have broken at this point.

even worse: one of my neighbors is a cattle farmer, he had a young guy as a farm hand,...left one of the tractors in the coral with the cattle. ...step one of hiring someone that has never worked with ruminants: tell them the animals like to chew and taste things just to see how they feel on the mouth and tongue, and pull wires, hoses, and anything loose they can and may well swallow off a tractor.

off and on, had cattle roaming around the neighborhood,...chased out of broken fences by idiots on 4wheelers wanting to pass through the pasture and annoy the livestock,...so a vehicle / tractor at your house can chewed on by a bovine that lives miles away...until the owner finds out they are missing and comes with food and a trailer to pick them up...and pay for damages.
