I just wanted to say hello and thank you all in advance for your vast knowledge!!

I've been driving trucks as my primary vehicle ever since I was 16 years old, but I recently picked up my first squarebody!! It an '82 C20 Camper Special that originally came out of Arizona. It has its problems, but I'm looking forward to getting it running good and fixing it up in the near future!

My main issues now are some electrical problems because of past modifications that have been done to it. Any suggestions on places to start would be greatly appreciated. It appears to be draining the battery overnight (has a new battery and new alternator). I've heard to check the grounds, which will be my first attempt at a solution, but I'm not sure where to go from there!

Thank you all and God Bless!

Howdy!

If you remove the positive battery cable and put a test light between it and the battery, does the test light illuminate brightly?

First things First, Test the battery to make sure it's good and doesn't have a bad cell. New means it SHOULDN'T be a bad battery but there are defective new things made all the time. 2nd thing if it's a good battery, is to isolate which circuit is creating the power draw.

BTW, Welcome to GMSB.

One of these fine gentlemen have a doohickey that tests circuits for amp draw. The doohickey consists of a fuse and a bulb and some soldering

So, I did try this and no light came on....but my tester is rather old and may need replaced. Going to pick up a new one today and retest. This would show some type of short in the system, correct?

Checker for problem circuit:

With the Ignition OFF,

Bulb glows = problem circuit
No Glow = okay

You must be registered for see images attach
Bulb is good, fuse is blown.
