I don't think you guys realize how big a 71 series Detroit is. Try looking for a 53 series but even those are kind of bulky.

If you're just looking for something different how about a John Deere? There's plenty of different size engines in their lineup. I'm sure you could come up with something that will squeeze in without creating a monster.

Why butcher up an old Chevrolet truck? Any Chevy motor will bolt right up. Just my opinion.
Because he's just another in a long line of youngsters with the ink still damp on his drivers license, and big dreams.

You cant really assume my age tbh[emoji23] on a certified diesel mechanic so clearly I must be old enough and skilled enough to know what I'm doing

I know how big a 71 series is, my boss has a couple at our shop, still in a couple old John Deere cubers. It would be a squeeze, but I think it would fit.

The 60 series in the original post, that seems crazy though.

You listed your age in your profile as 18, and you've asked the same type of questions and made the same type of statements that most of the young inexperienced people ask.

The 60 series is doable my brothers friend did it with a dodge, put the body on a 1 ton frame with a body lift and a hood

But you still want to put 2500lbs of engine into a 4500lb truck? Yeah, that sounds like a completely realistic swap.

The engine is almost 6 feet long and 4 feet tall. And weighs more than half the truck. Which means it's physically larger than the engine bay you're dreaming of putting it in. It's time to stop playing "let's pretend".

This is a quick grab from wiki.

That’s a mighty big engine. Do you plan on sitting in this truck after it’s done? I’d also check some axle ratings there before you chop something up and haul it to the scrap heap.
