so I have a 74 k10 with a 350. I have no idea the history of this truck but ive came across a valve spring not moving. im learning as I go with this motor but have never made it this far into one before. im not sure where to go from here. some say do an engine flush, while others say that doing that will knock to much loose and end up clogging the oil pickup. I have no idea where to go from here so any help is awesome.

I was planning on throwing an intake and cam on, but I definitely don't want to destroy the new cam if there is a problem with the motor as is....

I'm thinking you have a lobe on the cam that is wiped out already if you spring isn't moving. When I bought my truck I had 2 lobes that were ground down.

Probably will need a new cam and then follow the correct break in procedure for a flat tappet cam.

How does your oil look now?

I have used seafoam before. Added to the crankcase and to a vacuum line to clean the valves and whatnot.

If the rocker and pushrod is in tact you have a lobe that's gone, cut the filter open and see if there's a bunch of metal in there, filter gives out all kinds of secrets.

Don't make a engine flush dude, give me the money and I'll tell jokes.

That is a better option.
