Looking for advice on my door lock getting stuck when it's closed. Been dealing with this for a week now and I had time to look into it today. Took the door panel off but I can't really see or understand the issue. The issue here is that my door lock knob gets stuck down If I pull the inner door handle but can release if I press the door button on the outside of the truck. This only seems to happen when the door is closed and not open. Any advice on how to fix this would be helpful .

Mine does the same thing. I have to press the outside button to release it. Doesn't matter if I use the key or pull up on the lock knob, if the outside hasn't been pressed, it won't unlock. I don't know why it does that either, but now that this thread is started, maybe someone with more experience will chime in with a valid fix.

My 76 is the same way, I’ve come to accept it and consider it a marginal extra security “feature”

Same here, but I wouldn't mind fixing it

Yep, my '85 does this too. Only on the passenger door. Have to press the outside button to make it unlock, doesn't matter if you try it with the button inside or the key, gotta push the exterior button
