Found it. Old dash back lighting has two leads to each bulb, I attached new LED backlight for Vintage Air down line of a previous splice where both wires were connected causing the ground fault… so glad that nightmare is over..

But as has been with Easton’s Square, it’s the gift that keeps giving.. thank you Taylor for all the help, I did first check everything you mentioned and all was good so off the the VA connection which was the only new thing.

I was just reading this article, if you havent already you should consider doing this too: (your wiper motor is the same I think.. cant remember when that changed in the 70s) sounds neat and the way this dims is by using a adjuster to set the backlight when you have the others on, the vintage air may need something like that, unless you got it to work good now(possibly?)

I just saw, if your vintage air is gen iv it looks like the onboard ..board.. likely controls the lighting since its not backlit in the traditional sense but rather the function names light up, so it probably has its own conversion from the varying voltage coming in to convert to useable voltage going out to the LEDs

It’s working perfectly now. Only thing not working is dome light. Have power but not going to ground to come on so need to find that ground…

No. That’s on Saturday after we finish putting in vinyl floor and mounting stereo amp and such … got the painless door jam switch kit and got to figure that out as well…
