Has anyone taken the diesel fuel tanks, cleaned them, and used them for gas? I'm switching from diesel to gas and have dual tanks.

The tanks are the same, but the pickups are different. Just drain them, change the pickups and put gas in.

Thanks. I haven't removed them yet. The truck has sit for many years.

I wouldn't even worry. I'd just drain one and fill it. I'd even fill it with gas if it had a few gallons of diesel left in it and run it. Unless you have some super high tech built motor I wouldn't worry at all.

Got the passenger side tank out today. Was dry, no fuel. A few rust spots. Will put some fluid in it to see if it leaks.

Removed the drivers side tank today. Has about 5 gallons of fuel in it, and no signs of leakage.

Has anyone modified the fuel lines going over the frame on the drivers side tank? I'm thinking about extending the rubber fuel lines to go over the frame and then connect to the metal lines, just for ease of installation and if they ever have to be removed again.

Can the diesel pickups be used for gas?

Both tanks turned out rusted through with pin holes. first pic is the passenger side, second pic the drivers side. They had the plastic coverings on them.

That's sounds really interesting but I imagine it is ALSO a ton of work!

Not really. Had to cut out the diesel wires I no longer needed. Switched to vacuum boost brakes. The hardest part is finding parts that are bad after the truck sat for over 10 years like the calipers, rotors, tanks, u joints, removing unwanted add-ons, etc, or finding SBC accessory brackets.
