Wanting to hear from fellow DFW members that have had windshield replaced at a shop. I am wanting to have mine replaced due to cracks. Want to know a good experienced/reputable shop to have it done right the first time. Want to know the good and bad experiences and where. The closer to the Mid Cities area the better.

Now I am wondering if anyone has reused their locking strip with seal and windshield replacement? I replaced my chrome strip almost a year ago and would like to reuse it.

As long as you remove it with some soap and clean it up well the locking strip should come out and be reusable with no problems. The window surround will be kind of iffy. If it is really old you will be doing yourself a favor to get a new one, simply because they get really hard over time, after being exposed to UV rays. Also it will make removing the old window a cinch, since all you have to do is cut the outer ring off with a razor knife. Just get a hook with a blunt nose on it to pull out the old lock ring and it should be safe.

Mr. Glass has replaced windshields on my 82 C10, 2016 Mustang, and a few daily drivers. They do a MUCH better job than some of the chains. Call them to find out if they cover Euless.

Do you remember cost for the 82?

I'd be guessing. I only paid my deductible.
