Wow man thats nice! Your work again?

Wow, I am ENVIOUS!! I wish I could do that kind of work! But I am no carpenter.

How much do you think youd charge for the one I out lined?

With all the stuff you want to put in it, I guess about 24-30 hours to build and install. About $200 in materials and $720 to $900 labor.

Sounds like a lot, but my shop labor rate is only $30 an hour. I do put a fair amount of time in fit and finish. I want things to last, and work like there suppose to.

The console in my truck doesn't have a lot of stuff in it, and it took me about 15 hours build.

Hey billy, do you have any suggestions for sprucing up the door panels? like with vinyl, or other materials? the top surfaces of mine are worn out from arms resting on them, and just general sun damage.

There is several things you can do, but it will look like you patched over an old set of plastic door panels. The best looking cover up job I have seen, I guy took a heat gun and lightly melted the rough spots in the plastic to smooth it a little. Took gravel guard, or rocker texture and sprayed over the panel , then colored it with interior dye.

Is very tricky to cover in vinyl. An old door panel is to flimsy, and when you pull on the vinyl to fourm around the arm rest section, the edges will lift, and not sit right on the door. A real soft vinyl, or leather will not hold up to sun, or regular use.

Sometimes a good scrub with 409, and a dusting of SEM spray dye will make a big difference, provided that the plastic isn't to far gone.

So, buy after market panels or build into custom panels would be the best it in my opinion. Squares are hard to build panels for cause the inside of the is not flat.

More consoles built with this similar method.

The main thing is to plan ahead. Get all the stuff together that you want in the console, and make a mock up. Most of the time design is determined by what you put or what in the console.

Have you ever made any for a four wheel drive? I have an 86 k10 im thinking about getting bucket seats and making a console for. It's a four speed. I'm looking for ideas about how to build it around the transfer case lever.

I have, but can't find any pictures of them. You just have to step the console down before the shifters or just have a console between the seats and not go up under the dash.
