I have a 84 k-30 4x4 with a dump bed. Went out to start it and the key turns but no crank. Then after making sure all wires are hooked up I turned the key praying for a miracle and it cranks, but wont start. after a few seconds I stop and try again and now it wont crank. UGH. a few minutes later after crying and cussing, I try again to turn the key, it cranks but doesn't start. then try again and no crank..... UGH.... however when I turn the key I get 8 Volts on the solenoid but no crank. I took the starter to the shop and it tested fine, Can you over heat a solenoid? waiting cools it down and it cranks for a few then over heats again? Can this be a neutral switch issue? With voltage on the solenoid I figure I ruled that and an ignition switch out.
I am confused and frustrated.
Thanks for your input,
Mike
