I was looking to replace the 4 speed manual in my truck with a 5 speed manual so I was just curious if it would bolt up or if there even is one that will work? Thanks

Depends on how you drive the truck and if you still want a granny low gear. NV4500 and NV3500 can both be swapped in, but both will require a hydraulic clutch throw out setup, along with a newer transfer case that uses the 'round' mounting pattern.

There also may be some high dollar conversion kits available, but it depends on what trans you go with.

What do you mean by how I drive it like as in highway and town or mudding?

Light duty/no towing/low power, you can use an NV3500 from an S-10. Heavy-duty use you would want the NV4500.

I've been wanting to do this myself. I'll share what I've learned so far..
The NV4500's are rare and all the junkyards seem to know it. They want between $700 to a thou. The remans on ebay usually want a core in exchange but with them being so scarce, that can be a problem.
I have an NP205 in mine and advance adapters has a kit they sell for about $1000. They have a complete setup, trans and all for about $3300.
I have a grandson wanting to get into demolition derby ( history is repeating itself) and I'll be towing a trailer, so the NV3500 is out for me.
Up until 1995 the NV4500's have a lower (numerically higher) first gear.
The 96 and newer have a first gear that is a little more street friendly
There is a lot more information on this board if you do a search. Also on here you'll find some comments stating that with taller tires and gear ratio changes, you can make your SM465 more streetable, assuming that's what you have behind your 305. Good luck with your plans!
