Cable stretched and hood won't open ?? Easy cure ....

My hood release cable is stretched, and of course there isn't enough travel to easily open the hood, so here is an easy cure to buy time until the cable can be replaced.
Use a split fishing weight about the same length of slack in the cable.
In my case, I am not a fisherman, so I cut off a chunk of old wheel weight, hacksawed a slot lengthwise in it, put on the cable and crimp.
