Hello, I just had a motor built for my 82 C10. My baby. It runs great. when I take off, it has a dead spot at about 1400rpms but I get past it and it does good. Any Ideas???? it does it every time. I can hold it at 1400 rpms and it will just stay in a dull dead spot. no back fire or smoke. Can yall help?

Sounds like a carb issue. What carb is on it?

Sounds like you could have several issues going on. If I were you I would fix the kickdown cable first, may have to check jegs or summit for their holley accessories for what you need to hook it up. An ignition problem would probably cause a backfire, is there something that leads you to believe it might have something to do with the dizzy? Vac advance hooked to the correct port? I dont know a lot about holleys but it sounds to me like the equivalent of a primary step-up spring is too strong, requiring more throttle to make the metering rod overcome its resistence. I have more experience with Edelbrock/Carter.

Are we sure he is running a 700r4? He may have a TH350.

He's getting info for a Th350. Th350 uses a detent cable, 700r4 uses a TV cable.
